On a rocky promontory above Scario bay, the Santa Isabel Hotel is located along a picturesque path ten minutes walk from the main ferry dock in Salina. One of the island's little-known establishments, the hotel is home to a fashionable collection of locals that descend on its in-house eatery and outdoor lounge for casual supper and evening nightlife. The hotel is home to two eateries, one inside and another outside, for night and day use with interior space in supper club vibe of white banquettes and ocean views being the most formal. Outside, a waterfront terrace offers one of the sexiest spaces in the Aeolians free of the tourist masses of many portside haunts.
The Food
A light-hearted thoroughly-summertime menu of Aeolian specialties defines this waterfront eatery utilizing local Salina produce and seafood selected from local fisherman. A tapas-style appetizer menu includes carpaccio selections of salmon, tuna and octopus as well as sizeable salads and fried fish platters big enough for sharing. Main course is a hearty collection of chicken and beef entrees in addition to local dishes like swordfish rolls and grilled white fish with caper sauce. But don’t think of skipping dessert, made by local Salina baker that some of the best on the island.
